Batik Fabric Cat Beds

I absolutely love batik fabrics. The tradition of batik started with a labor intensive hand printing process, but modern printing techniques have reduced the price point and made this type of print more accessible. These less expensive options are still printed on high quality, tightly woven greige goods, so the fabric is high-quality from the start: it's exactly what I'm looking for to make our modern cat beds!

Here are the batik cat beds we've been making in 2023 and 2024.

This is our standard size Cat Ball® cat bed, demonstrated by tiny7-pound Tink, yet the bed easily accommodates cats around 18 pounds.
A small seven pound begins to explore a Cat Ball® cat bed made in a aqua, teal, and green batik fabric that suggests the ocean.

Our Cat Ball® cat bed is made with six panels, creating a hexagonal or sphere-like shape. There are two circular openings, this cat is exploring the larger one, and the smaller one is visible in the background.

This perspective shows the cat exploring the smaller opening. The circle may look small to you, but most cats are able to use it to get out of the bed, the small opening just slows them down a little. It's harder for larger cats to enter the bed through the small hole because their bodies push the bed, and it's funny to watch. We called this fabric Brown Batik Bubble.

The mini-size is for kittens and small cats

This cheerful green and orange option is our mini-size Cat Ball® cat bed. We created this small size for kittens and small pets, little creatures under 9 pounds or so. This kitten weighed about 22 ounces. The green and orange polka dot shell and the pink lining are both batik fabrics.

The Jumbo Cat Canoe was created for big cats, but cats don't follow rules, do they?

This is our  jumbo-size Cat Canoe® in bold blue and batik floral print, demonstrated by a seven pound cat model. We created this large size Cat Canoe® to accommodate 18-19 pound cats, nursing mamma cats and their litters, and two cats who sleep together, but have found that cats of any age and size enjoy the high side and flexible foam panels.

The model for our Jumbo Cat Canoe® made in Purple Batik Fabric is a small 7 pound cat, but we designed this bed to hold cats as large as 3x her weight. The bed is made with flexible panels what will expand to accommodate larger animals.

Here's the jumbo-size Cat Canoe® in Navy Batik Rings fabric, and the model you see here is about 17 pounds. He's able to curl up inside, and sleep without any kitty body parts hanging out, but THIS goofy posture is what he decided to do.

Standard size Cat Canoe® made with a jewel tone dark batik print wuith a bubble design. The lining is a contrast cranberry red fabric.

I love batik fabrics so much that I will buy them when I can!

I will keep using these fabrics because I think they have great potential to look good in home décor, as the fabrics are printed with multiple colors that help to coordinate with furniture, draperies, flooring and furniture,.
